Dedication to Wanda Landowska
Music by William Byrd, Henry Purcell, Domenico Scarlatti, François Couperin. Jean Philippe Rameau, Johann Sebastian Bach and Frédéric Chopin and anonymous composers.
It would be hard to imagine the early music world without Wanda Landowska. She is truly the one who has brought the harpsichord back to the big stage. Her way of playing, unique instruments and incredible programs are unforgettable. Her recitals sometimes lasted more than 2 hours consisting of a variety of famous as well as unknown pieces which she always accompanied with her commentary.
This program is my attempt to recreate that unique atmosphere with music by W. Byrd, Purcell, Anonymous composers, Domenico Scarlatti, François Couperin, Jean Philippe Rameau, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Frederic Chopin.
This program is accompanied by my comments on Wanda Landowska and her life as well as on the choice of the pieces and composers.
